YSR to lay stone for water scheme tomorrow

Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said that in view of the demand for drinking water of the 2.24-lakh population in the Fort Town, it was decided to supply water from Ramatheertha Sagar at a cost of Rs. 69 crores in two phases.
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the scheme during his roadshow in the town on Friday.
Giving details of the Chief Minister’s tour, Mr. Satyanarayana said in view of the formation of new Assembly constituencies, the DCC would be holding constituency-level meetings from February 25.

Stressing the importance of making education accessible to every person, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that from the next academic year, beginning June-July, the government would reimburse fee to poor students among the upper castes too.
His government was already doing so for students of weaker sections and minorities with the fee being reimbursed for those pursuing higher education courses like engineering, MBA and MCA for rank holders up to 30,000 in the entrance examinations.
Big hit
He was addressing a gathering of self-help groups and youth at the mega job mela organised by GHMC in NTR Stadium near Indira Park. The mela, which attracted about 100 companies, turned out to be a big hit as hundreds of hopeful youth swarmed the stadium forcing the police to lock the gates even before Dr. Reddy left the place.
There was a lathi charge too inside as the youth tried to barge into the stalls.
Later it was announced that the job mela would be on till Friday. A GHMC official claimed that 1,000 spot offers were made and 25,000 resumes accepted by various firms at the site.
Dr. Reddy said getting a child educated was the best gift parents can provide and it was much better than bequeathing children with any other asset.
“A working couple would be in a better position to ensure that their child is provided good education for a better future,” he said.
Offer letters
The government had taken up the responsibility to not only facilitate jobs for scores of aspirants but also provide them with adequate training to make them “employable” through the Indira Kranti Pathakam (IKP) centres.
He also presented offer letters to some of the selected persons like Sania Fatima who got the job of a proof reader at TransDyne which was also giving five-year job security to its staff.
Other lucky ones include Ganesh and Gyaneshwari who were trained at the Amberpet IKP centre and got selected by Coca Cola.
A cheque for Rs. 25 crore given by SBH as loan for 428 self help groups and another cheque for Rs. 11 crore by Indian Bank to 1,800 SHGs was handed over by Dr. Reddy.
Earlier, he laid the foundation for a new GHMC Council-cum-office complex at the Park and it is to be b
uilt at a cost of Rs. 50 crore. He also unveiled a bust size statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the park.
