YSR to lay stone for lift scheme
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy will lay the foundation for construction of a lift irrigation scheme to be built at a cost of Rs.50 crores at Morjampadu village in Machavaram mandal on Saturday.
According to the schedule released by the district administration, the Chief Minister will arrive by a helicopter from Hyderabad at 10 a.m. After laying the foundation stone for the L.I scheme, he would address a public meeting. He would leave for Hyderabad at 11 a.m. SP Mahesh Chandra Laddha reviewed security arrangements at the helipad and the public meeting venue.
The visit to the village, home town of Tenali M.P V. Balashourie, is set to boost confidence of the MP, who is eyeing the Narsaraopet Lok Sabha seat.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday charged the political parties in the Grand alliance with obstructing the completion of Polavaram project and thereby stalling the government’s plans of bringing Krishna water to Kadapa district.
Addressing a public meeting near the Indiramma housing colony at Madanagopalapuram near Rajampet, he charged the previous Telugu Desam Party government with failing to take up any irrigation project. In sharp contrast, his Government completed some projects and irrigated about 20 lakh acres, he said.
He assured to bring Krishna water to Rajampet soon. Works on two packages in Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi project are progressing briskly, he said.
The TDP government failed to provide succour to the distressed farmers or ensure remunerative prices for crops, Dr. Reddy alleged.
His Government made a budgetary allocation of Rs. 15,000 crores for irrigation, as against Rs. 1,500 crores in his predecessor’s rule, he said. He spoke about various welfare schemes being implemented by the Government.
Rajampet Member of Parliament A. Sai Pratap said Dr. Reddy is bringing laurels to the State and is striving for the welfare of all sections of people. Rajampet legislator K. Prabhavathamma said developmental works worth Rs. 447 crore are in progress in Rajampet Assembly segment.
Dr. Reddy gave away a cheque for Rs. 10 crore towards Indiramma housing bridge loans to self-help groups, Rs. 65 lakh towards scholarships under Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana and Rs. 500 cheques towards Abhaya Hastam pensions to aged SHG women.
