Actor Uday Kiran hails government programmes
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday asserted that the overwhelming response from people to the developmental and welfare programmes initiated by his government will return the ruling party to power in the coming Assembly elections.
“No party or government in other States can compete with us in terms of development and welfare programmes implemented in the last four years and nine months,” Dr. Reddy said after giving away awards to the winners of the district-level Rajiv Gandhi memorial cricket tourney organised by the AP Youth Congress from January 7-14 across the State. Neither the grand nor mega alliance will impact the party’s performance in the next elections, he added.
“We will win the gold medal and the other parties have to fight for the silver and bronze medals,” he said amid cheers from the gathering. Promising to give more seats to the Youth Congress, he said some of the flagship programmes such as Jalayagnam, NREGP, subsidised rice scheme and Arogyasri have caught the attention of other States, which want to replicate it.
