YSR undergoes eye surgery
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy underwent a surgery on his left eye lid on Sunday evening. Dr. Reddy stayed indoors on Monday and he is likely to resume his duties fully from Wednesday.
YSR to open Tungabhadra pushkaram on December 10
Seer wants publicity for the event stepped up to attract more devotees
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is likely to inaugurate the Tungabhadra pushkaram on Decmeber 10, according to former legislator T.G. Venkatesh.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Venkatesh said a delegation had met the Chief Minister recently and requested him to inaugurate the pushkaram as well as the Rayalaseema University.
Mr. Venkatesh said Arya Vysya Choultry of Srisailam and Kasi Arya Vysya Choultry would organise free meal to devotees during pushkaram at Sankalbagh and pump house.
Rally of devotees
He said Swami Paripurnananda would lead a rally of devotees from municipal school ground to the ghat at Sankal Bagh at 5 p.m. to start pushkaram at 6.05 a.m. on December 10. Swami Paripurnananda, who was also present, said he would stay for 18 days during the pushkaram at Kurnool and recite the Bhagavatgita under the auspices of Geetha Prachara Sangham.
He called upon people to participate in the river festival saying it was the most secular festival of all.
He asked families residing at Kurnool to invite their relatives and friends to the festival and offer food to them as it was considered auspicious during pushkaram.
He felt that the publicity to the event should be stepped up to attract more number of devotees.
