YSR to begin IT SEZ works on Sept. 21

Kurnool, Sept. 16: Information Technology organisations are showing interest to start units in Kurnool. According to official sources, IT industries are showing interest in Kurnool as the city is 150 km from Shamshabad airport and 300 km from the Bangaluru airport. Road was also developed from Kurnool to Visakhapatnam. Rail link is also established from Dhone, near Kurnool city, to various places in the country.
District officials also promised that there would not be any land problem in Kurnool for establishing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and IT Parks. There are several colleges, including medical college, engineering college and dental college in the city. The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, would set foundation stone for the fist IT SEZ near the Kurnool city on September 21.
The Raaga Mayuri organisation is establishing the SEZ with the encouragement from the government. With the establishment of the SEZ in 33 acres from about 8 km from the Kurnool city, people expect the city to develop fast. A total of Rs 501 crore would be spent to establish the IT park. It is expected to be completed in the next three years. A school with international standards and a corporate hospital with 200 beds would also be established in the IT park.
IT finishing schools with networking facilities with all technological universities in the Rayalaseema would be established. About 11,000 persons are expected to get direct employment and 40,000 persons are expected to get indirect employment after the Raaga Mayuri IT Park is started.
The first phase of the IT park is expected to begin its operation sin the next year. The IT park would begin operations on full-scale in the next two years. There is also a plan to acquire another 400 acres for future needs of the IT park. Officials hope that some IT industries would also begin in the city.
